‘ Having decided that we didn’t need a cake as our venue was serving beautiful desserts, Rob decided two weeks out from the wedding that he was going to make our wedding cake. He’s a great home cook, but he’s not a baker and has never baked a wedding cake before (let alone the tiered naked cake that I desired!) There’s no talking Rob out of something once he sets his mind to it, so I left him to it under the provision that I wasn’t going to be involved at all! I’m not going to say that I was doubtful that he could pull it off (I was a little doubtful!) but as always, he proved me wrong. The cake was exactly what I’d imagine and looked amazing on the day. It tasted pretty great too! It was so lovely to have that personal element so that when we cut the cake, it was something that Rob had created himself.’
