‘Imran wanted to have a big, traditional wedding with all our family and friends, whereas I wanted something smaller and more intimate. In the end we decided to have a bit of both: an intimate ceremony in the morning and a large reception at night. The day kicked off with the traditional “Gelin Cikarma” ceremony, which literally translates to “taking out the bride”. After the ceremony, we ate ice cream (in our relationship, ice cream is synonymous with love) and took photos with our guests. Next we went to Café Louis and the streets of Fitzroy for our photoshoot. We incorporated a mixture of traditional/cultural elements, as well as our own personality into our wedding.’
